The SECU17 should be part of the standard equipment on every pushpit, as it is an excellent rescue tool in the event of a MOB. In combination with a line, it makes it possible to quickly establish a connection between the vessel and the person who has fallen overboard.

The glowing yellow foam body of the SECU17 helps to position the person who has gone overboard, even without a line connection, if they are "thrown behind" immediately after going overboard. This is because a person without a lifejacket is difficult to spot on the surface of the water after only a few metres, even in low waves. The person is also given the opportunity to put on this lifejacket in the water so that they cannot pass out. For the crew remaining on board, this means a time advantage, especially if a direct rescue is not immediately possible.
