Shin guards are the most honest piece of gear in hockey: they get hit where there are no excuses. JOFA refined these in Sweden over generations – in a hockey culture built on frozen lakes and cold rinks, where equipment either holds up or it doesn't. This new generation carries that heritage forward with today's materials.
Technically, this guard is a CCM Tacks XR Pro – today's pro platform in the look of the old JOFA days. The injection-moulded shin cap has been rebuilt from scratch and ties into the calf guard via an internal plastic loop. This Max Coverage FZN Shield Design closes the classic gap on the inside of the leg and protects both sides. The self-adapting calf guard combines injected plastic with an HD foam damper and D3O, moulding to the player's anatomy instead of fighting it. Over the kneecap, an injection-moulded cap with D3O Zero Comfort Donut takes load off the joint and channels impact energy outwards.
Day to day it's the details: a flat surface to tape over cleanly, D3O reinforcement in the lower section and a hard-wearing liner that stops chafing on the inside. The removable, adjustable FLEXMOTION thigh guard in compression-moulded EVA foam dials in to your pant length, and the length-adjustable double calf strap with padded Hyper X Lock Strap keeps the guard put for a full 60 minutes. The tongues in/out option covers both schools – tongue inside for a tighter wrap, outside for the classic feel.
